Education must not simply teach work - it must teach Life.

Home Education

Over the last few years Home Education in the UK has become a very popular choice.  However there are still many people who do not realise that educating your child at home and not attending school is legal.

  • You don't need to be a teacher to educate your child at home
  • you don't need any special equipment
  • you don't have to follow the National Curriculum

An estimated 55,000 children in the UK are now home-educated

There is a lot to think about when you home-educate, some people are doing it as they have made that choice as a preferred style of education and others are doing because their child is not thriving in the school system or because their child is unhappy or being buillied.

Home Education

Whatever the reason home education is legal and you don't need to be a teacher or have any special knowledge and you don't even have to follow the National Curriculum.

The beauty of Home Education it that you can work with your child at their own pace and follow subjects that interest them.

There are many local groups that you can become part of and get involved in the home-education activities in the area where you live.

In Berkshire and the surrounding areas, home-education is thriving so you will not be short of activities and groups to get involved in with your child.  There are many groups that meet up all over Berkshire for sports, lego, woodwork, maths, play and the list goes on and on. The aim of this website is to become a good resource for you.

It can be frightening and scary as you are opting out the norm, but  as a mother who educated both her children out of the school system I can tell you that it is the most rewarding thing I have ever done and yes, I would do it all again.
